Founded by passionate, highly experienced hoteliers (a married couple who, after long, splendid years in other people's hotels, knew exactly what was important in a good hotel) rather than just investors, built for them - already in its current size - by an expert who designed almost a dozen large hotels, it still belongs to their direct descendants and is managed personally by them. This lasting personal union of operators and owners and the rare continuity that never allowed the respect and understanding for what was to be lost has also inspired the good architects who continue to build on the Waldhaus. Like a village, the Waldhaus is constantly changing - and yet remains true to itself.
