Er teilte Bühnen und Projekte mit Miles Davis und Herbie Hancock, aber auch mit Aretha Franklin, Brian Ferry und Carlos Santana und sehr vielen anderen. Heute fördert und befördert er als Elder Statesman auch die nächste Generation in seinem Dunstkreis des Jazz, Soul und Funk. Und irgendwann wird man über diese Jungen sagen, sie hätten einst die Bühne mit Marcus Miller geteilt. Geschichte eben.
